When a filmmaker turns the camera on his family, a discovery about their ancestry forces him to choose between exposing the truth or preserving the myth that holds them together.
A mockumentary feature about a Seder that goes off the rails, and what happens when people who love each other cannot agree on who they are, what they owe the past, or how to face the present. Think… Shiva Baby meets Spinal Tap if shot by Nathan Fielder.
Starring Tony Award-winner MIRIAM SILVERMAN (Your Friends and Neighbors, Motherland), CAROLINE AARON (Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Crimes and Misdemeanors), SAUL RUBINEK (Blackberry, Frasier), ERIC TABACH (Dexter: Resurrection), ETHAN HERSCHENFELD (Black Rabbit) and introducing DAHLIA TRILLING.

Slated to shoot over two weeks this December (Dec 7-22), with a documentary-style approach designed to maximize intimacy for the performers, agility for the production, and impact for the audience.
Festival targets include VENICE, NYFF, and the JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL circuit. Theatrical/streaming release will be timed to Passover 2028, and will either be coordinated in partnership with an established distributor or through a self-booked Jewish community roadshow that, paired with traditional press and a robust social-first marketing strategy, will be leveraged towards streaming and foreign-rights sales.
On Such a Dark Night arrives at a crossroads in the American Jewish story, and presents a funny, tense, intimate portrait of the fault lines running through real families right now. The subject matter is urgent, the form is accessible, and the distribution infrastructure is hungry for this kind of work. It’s a movie that meets the moment, and tells an urgent story about continuity under pressure.
