Project Overview

In 1144 AD, a twelve-year-old boy is discovered crucified in the woods abutting Norwich, England. William’s murder will become the most infamous true crime of the Middle Ages.

Tasked with solving it is John de Chesney, the King’s appointed Sheriff.

A fearsome knight but an unpracticed detective.

The Church of Norwich accuses the Jewish community of Norwich – recent immigrants from France – citing the theory that Jews needed the blood of a Christian child for their return to the Holy Land. It is the first instance of blood libel that still resonates today.
